There are many different types of editing that come at different stages in the writing process. To learn more about each style and which service works best for you and your stage of writing and publishing, see the descriptions below.
Line Editing &
Copyediting
This combination of line editing and copyediting ensures that every line of your manuscript is carefully read for flow and readability.

Line-by-line review

​Grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax corrections

Technical consistency in spelling, capitalization, numbers, and hyphenations

Fact checking names of places, businesses, titles, etc.

Correcting inconsistencies, making sure character names, descriptions, plot points, and settings are consistent throughout the book

Standard formatting consistency
Editing work is $30 per hour. I offer sample edits up to 1000 words. Sample edits are not available for children's books.
Developmental
Editing
This is a overview of your book, showing which elements are working and which ones are not. This service looks at the macro level, whereas line editing and other editing services look at the micro level.

Comments within manuscript on specific places where characters, scenes, and plot points could be further developed and explored
Editing work is $30 per hour. I offer sample edits up to 1000 words. Sample edits are not available for children's books.
Proofreading
Proofreading is the final step in the process. Proofreaders examine the final draft of your book, after it has been edited, to ensure there are absolutely no errors. This is recommended for those who have already formatted their books as sometimes errors will stand out more clearly once formatted.

*Proofreading is $25 per hour. I offer sample edits up to 1000 words. Sample edits are not available for children's books.
Editorial Notes will give you feedback on your book, what themes are working or not working, which parts need you to dig deeper and which sections are dragging or unnecessary or redundant. This service does not include editing, I am someone you can have a conversation with and bounce ideas off of.
